Jadzia Winter, business owner.
I’m an actor, singer, and teacher based in Ventura County.
Training and Education: I am a classically trained singer, and have a Master’s Degree in Acting from East 15 Acting School in London.
I have taken courses in Shakespeare at The Globe Theatre in London and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), and have written and directed plays and scenes, for stage and film, and have been the music director and choreographer in various productions.
I have loved singing since I was a child, which inspired me to pursue vocal training with teachers who specialized in different musical styles, including pop, musical theatre, and classical.
Teaching Background: I have been teaching for the last 6.5 years. I am an accredited Kindermusik teacher (0-7 music and movement classes), and have been teaching that and children’s acting classes across Ventura and LA counties since 2019. Additionally, within the school system, I recently started as a preschool Special Education music teacher and rotational arts teacher. ✨☀️
Ethos: support, safety, learning, growing, and visibility. I have loved singing and performing since I was a toddler. I was put in my first acting class when I was 5, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by William Shakespeare. I continued in plays all throughout school, at my Shakespeare company, Ventura College, and community theatre organisations around Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
One of my dreams as a six-year-old was to be on American Idol. I used to watch it with my dad and make him play a game where he was the ‘judge’, and I would sing songs for him. Although I was like this at home, I was terrified to sing in front of people. I fought my mom tooth and nail when she signed me up for my first musical, and then I was eternally grateful that she saw through my stage fright and encouraged my passion.
I am so grateful for all the performance spaces and outlets I had growing up, and for having such a supportive family. Because of this, I want to bring my knowledge and experience to the world of youth performing arts, with an emphasis on exploration and fun.
Why This Business?
Being a young person is exciting and difficult, especially when it comes to learning about and sharing ourselves with others. Performance is one of our oldest ways of connecting and expressing ourselves, and it's also one of the best ways to learn who we are and what we want to be. But it can also be terrifying. The fear of doing something silly in front of someone else, of being vulnerable, and making decisions, are some of the scariest parts of being human, and this is all on display when we perform and make art. I want to create my own supportive and safe performance space for children and teens, where they feel seen, and where they can learn, grow, and blossom into innovative and confident performers who:
Know that art is about making mistakes and being bold in our choices, even if we end up being redirected,
Can constructively and confidently evaluate and critique themselves and peers, to foster critical thinking, develop an artistic eye, and become ever-developing artists and performers.
Can collaboratively create together, where they listen to and value each other’s input.
Have confidence in their own creativity, imagination, and growth.
