What is Show Choir? Show choir is quite a broad term that encompasses different styles. There are musical theatre-focused show choirs, performance show choirs, ones where you dance, ones where you just sing, etc.
My Classes: I was in a show choir when I was 13-14, where we performed around Santa Barbara County. I really enjoyed being part of it, but we never received any vocal training, because it was mostly focused on dancing. I wanted to make a show choir that has a variety of songs the kids know and enjoy, as well as introducing new songs and musical genres. I want to emphasise vocal training and health while singing. And also gives the kids agency to be part of the creative process.
What we'll do: We always start with a vocal warm-up. We learn about vocal anatomy and breath control. We learn a bit about dynamics and music terminology (crescendo, staccato, legato, piano/forte, etc.), and we introduce moving while performing.
Over the weeks, we'll explore a few different songs, adding to them each time.
